Safari Overview

Day 1; Arrival in Kigali and transfer to your lodge for the night. 

Day 2; City tour in the morning and visit the genocide museum and Mageragere village in Rwanda.

Day 3; Transfer from Kigali to Nyungwe forest national park with packed lunch visiting Nyanza and Huye

Day 4; Nyungwe forest national park. Chimpanzee trekking in the morning and canopy walk in the  afternoon. 

Day 5; Transfer from Nyungwe forest national park to Kivu. Transfer to lake Kivu passing via Kibuye and  an overnight in Gisenyi. 

Day 6; In Kivu, take a boat to napoleon island, visit and learn the history of its names and view a cave of  bats.

Day 7; Transfer from Kivu to Bwindi impenetrable forest National park for gorilla tracking 

Day 8; Gorilla tracking in the morning and Batwa community visit in the evening.

Day 9; Transfer from Bwindi to Ruhengeri Rwanda.

 Day 10; You will do Dian Fossey tomb tour.

Day 11; Transfer back to Kigali, visit the market and Nyamirambo.

Day 12; You will be transferred ton the airport for your flight back home.

               

                    


Safari/Trip details
  • 1 - ARRIVAL IN KIGALI

    Arrival in Kigali, you will cordially welcomed by a representative from Visit Gorillas Uganda safaris  who will transfer you to your lodge for briefing and an overnight.


  • 2 - KIGALI CITY TOUR

    After breakfast, you will go for Kigali city tour and explore the city and a visit to the genocide museum center and then have lunch at Des Mille Collines hotel.

    You will visit the Mageragere village in the afternoon and later return to the lodge for an overnight.


  • 3 - TRANSFER TO NYUNGWE SECTOR

    After breakfast, you will transfer to Nyungwe sector, visiting Nyanza and Huye.

    Nyungwe forest national park is situated in the south west of Rwanda with remarkable diversity of wildlife including 13 species of primates, more than 300 bird species, 85 mammals, over 100 plant species, 32 amphibians and a lot of reptile species.

    Many of the species are endemic to the Albertine rift region within where the forest lies.


  • 4 - CHIMPANZEE TREKKING IN NYUNGWE FOREST NATIONAL PARK

    After an early morning breakfast, you will go for chimpanzee trekking down the forest. Follow the network of forest trails to find the habituated chimpanzees squabbling and swinging from tree branches.You will spend the morning in the forest and later return to the lodge for lunch.

    In the afternoon, you will go for a canopy walk accessing the impressive insights into East Africa's largest and oldest Afro Montane forests. the canopy walk offers breathtaking views across the misty forest and sights at eye level, a number of unique wildlife including L'Hoest monkeys, Guereza colobus, red tailed monkeys and blue monkeys with a notable list of bird species, reptiles and among others. you will later head back to the hotel for the night


  • 5 - TRANSFER TO LAKE KIVU

    The adventure continues as you proceed to lake Kivu passing via Kibuye with your packed lunch.

    Lake Kivu is one of the great lakes of east Africa situated between Congo in the west and Rwanda in the east. it has a rough jagged coast and contains numerous islands, the largest of which is Idjwi. It was at one time part of the larger body of water that filled a structural trough in the earth. volcanic outpourings along its Northern shore created a dam that separated lake Kivu from from lake Edward, barred Kivu's Northern outflow and reversed its drainage to the south through the Rusizi river into lake Tanganyika .


  • 6 - BOAT TRIP ON LAKE KIVU

    After breakfast, you will set off for a boat trip to Napoleon island and you will learn the history of its name and also view a lot of bats. Later proceed to your lodge to relax and overnight. 


  • 7 - TRANSFER TO THE PEARL OF AFRICA UGANDA

    After breakfast, you will proceed to the pearl of Africa, Uganda as Winston Churchill called it. Taking a scenic drive to the southern sector of Bwindi impenetrable forest national park. The ancient rain forest of Bwindi a UNESCO site of 331 square kilometers and boosts 120 mammal species, the famed mountain gorillas and a wide range of primates as well as 23 Albertine rift valley endemic bird species that includes African green broad bill, the bar tailed Trogon etc travelling through the lovely countryside of the terraced hills of Kigezi and arrive in Bwindi.


  • 8 - GORILLA TRACKING

    This morning, you will set off for gorilla tracking. Hiking through the thick verdant rain forest to eventually come across the gorillas in their natural habitat, is an amazing and unforgettable experience. The exercise can go for 8 hours so you need to carry necessary gears and lunch boxes. you will get back to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.


  • 9 - TRANSFER TO RUHENGERI

    After breakfast, you will transfer to Ruhengeri, arrive in the afternoon and have rest at your lodge for the rest of the day. 


  • 10 - A VISIT TO DIAN FOSSEY TOMB

    After breakfast, you shall visit Dian Fossey tombs and learn more about her history.

    Dian Fossey was an American Geologist who was carrying out a study on mountain gorillas.


  • 11 - TRANSFER TO KIGALI CITY

    Today, you will transfer back to Kigali and have a visit in the market and multi-cultural hub of Nyamirambo. A visit to the noisy neighborhood will expose you to the typical African flair. One of the hustle and bustle, color and pungent smells that's absent in the rest of Kigali. Later proceed to the lodge for dinner and overnight.


  • 12 - TRANSFER TO THE AIRPORT

    After breakfast, you will set off for Kigali international airport for your flight back home.
